I am also very keen to make contact with the wider membership, to listen to their concerns and issues so that we can develop The Fellowship to be even more vibrant, stronger, and relevant for the challenges ahead.
I will certainly do my best to balance the needs of the membership, organisation, staff and volunteers and I look forward to a long and rewarding future with The British Polio Fellowship. “

Groundbreaking research gives UK’s forgotten Polio community new hope
Press Release
Can you help us with our quality of life survey?
We’re looking for husbands, wives, daughters, sons and friends to help us out with our latest healthcare research study into how PPS affects fatigue and quality of life in the over 50s.
Anyone over 50 and who has not had polio can help us by filling in a printed questionnaire that will take no longer than 10 minutes.
We’ve already received responses from more than 200 volunteers who contracted polio earlier in their lives and now we’re looking for volunteers who have not had polio to provide the comparative analysis. Even if you are experiencing other health conditions we’d love you to take part and help us with our work to improve diagnosis and treatment of PPS.
The study – in partnership with the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Liverpool – is looking at how life is affected by those living with the effects of polio and Post Polio Syndrome compared to those without the illness. The results are expected to be announced in the summer.
To take part in our research project call 0151 529 8004 or email charlotte.taylor@thewaltoncentre.nhs.uk

DLA reform consultation response
Disability Alliance produced this response for the ‘Disability Rights Partnership’ which is the working title for the unification of Disability Alliance, the National Centre for Independent Living and Radar.
Our organisations are led by disabled people. Between us we represent over 500 local and national organisations. Our response has been developed in consultation with our members and through our wider research of disabled people, carers and advisors’ views on the Government proposals.
Over 1,700 people completed our survey and 82% were receiving or caring for someone using DLA . This represents a significant piece of DLA research and provides a strong evidence base for our consultation response.
We are very grateful to our members and all the individuals who have taken the time to contribute to our response.
