The Ron Scudamore Holiday Programme
Take a break
The Ron Scudamore Holiday Programme was established in 2006 in memory of one of our former chairmen.
The Programme’s objective is to enable our members to find and enjoy suitable holidays in the UK and abroad.
We can:
- Help you to identify accessible and affordable holidays, including special deals and discounted rates
- Provide information and advice on travel operators, accommodation and other travel related topics
- Provide financial assistance throught the Holiday Grants Fund
Branches or Groups may also apply for a grant to support a branch-organised holiday.
Holiday Grants Fund
All members with polio can apply to the fund for a grant towards going on holiday. Grant applications are reviewed and allocated on a bi-monthly basis. The average grant allocated is £300 to any one individual, and the maximum is £500. Branches or groups may also apply for a grant to support a branch-organised holiday. For more information and to request a Holiday Grant application form, please call the Fellowship's Central Office on

Holiday bungalow at Burnham-on-Sea in Somerset
Are you a member looking for an affordable holiday in comfortable, well-adapted accommodation overlooking the sea?
Why not enjoy a week at the British Polio Fellowship’s holiday bungalow in Burnham-on-Sea?
Our bungalow is beautifully situated in a quiet cul-de-sac close to the main attractions of Burnham. Backing directly onto the beach, there are spectacular views of the bay from the living room and two of the bedrooms.
The bungalow offers well-adapted and modern accommodation and has the facilities to guarantee a good holiday at any time of year. The specially designed kitchen includes a number of accessibility and safety features including hob and sink worktops that can be raised and lowered electronically, easy reach cupboards with customised doors for ease of opening, and a built-in oven and induction hob. The bathroom has a level access shower area with accompanying handrails and shower seat, and a “peninsula toilet”, giving easy access from both sides. There are three double bedrooms (one with hoist). There is also a separate cloakroom.
All bed linen and utilities are included in the price of your stay so all you need to bring are you own towels. There are excellent parking facilities and a payphone.
Prices for a week’s stay range from £250 in low season to £425 from June to September.
For further information, including booking details, and to confirm current prices for the time of year you want to go, please call Bill Finch on 01903 529057.
