The Saucony London 10k took place on Sunday 14 July and saw runners tackle the challenge of completing the 10-kilometre course while fundraising for charities doing incredible work across the UK.

This year, eight runners joined the cause on behalf of The British Polio Fellowship (BPF), each encouraging family, friends, and colleagues to donate generously to the charity.

The eight runners were, Kripen Dhrona (BPF Chief Executive Officer), Matthew Thomas (BPF Operations Manager), Simon and Esther Levin, Clive Oakes (father is a polio survivor), James Devine (mother is a polio survivor), and cousins Connor Michie and George McCaffery (grandmother is a polio survivor).

The 10K route started in Piccadilly and finished on Whitehall, with live music and entertainment along the way. The BPF team ran past iconic central London sights including Big Ben, the London Eye, and the River Thames, and were cheered on by thousands of supporters.

Kripen commented "“I really enjoyed combining my love of running with being able to support the work that we do at the British Polio Fellowship, seeing polio survivors empowered to live independently. Doing this run alongside young people who have family members impacted by polio and its late effects was great. It gave them the opportunity to give back as well, and to challenge themselves while doing something for a personal cause.

"I was particularly pleased about achieving a new personal best for my run, especially since it was quite a sunny, hot day. We were all hot by the time we finished the run. Matthew even made it into a short clip of the race on Sunday evening's ITV London news, looking very red in the face."

Over 17,000 people entered the London 10K sponsored by Saucony, (footwear brand) to raise money for their charities. This year's team of eight BPF runners are still taking donations and the link which will remain open until November: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/asics10kbpf
