Thanks to the organising skills of Charlotte McDonagh from the British Polio Fellowship, an Afternoon Tea event was held on Wednesday 19 June for polio survivors living in and around Sutton, Surrey.
On the day, around 10 people came together for an afternoon of sandwiches, cakes, tea and chat in a room at Highfield Hall on Carshalton Road, Carshalton.
The event was attended by some familiar faces, as well as new members who were living in the area and were keen to take part in some social activities and events.
Charlotte, Community Engagement and Welfare Officer said: “We couldn’t be more grateful to those who came along and volunteered to help. It was really good fun and great to meet everyone. We said we'd arrange another meeting, and everyone said they would come along. Hopefully more polio survivors living in the Sutton area will also join us.
"These meetings are a great opportunity to get to know others living in your area, and to speak openly to those who really do understand the challenges faced by those dealing with the late effects of polio."
