The results of the Neurological Alliance’s UK wide My Neuro survey were announced on Wednesday 10 June at an event attended by Kripen Dhrona, Chief Executive of the British Polio Fellowship and held in the Houses of Parliament.
Ministers joined the Neurological Alliance (NA) and member charities to hear its call on the Government to back the campaign #BackThe1in6, create a Neuro Taskforce and deliver real change for people affected by neurological conditions.
More than 8,500 people competed the My Neuro survey, including around two hundred polio survivors and the results clearly showed there is not the workforce or services in place to support them. There is a lack of mental wellbeing support, delays to life changing treatment and care and inconsistent information and support at diagnosis. https://www.neural.org.uk/backthe1in6/
The #BackThe1in6 campaign is to raise awareness of the 1 in 6 people living in the UK with a neurological condition. Reports are published for all four UK governments (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland), highlighting the position within each nation, as well as a report for the whole of the UK.
A petition has also begun and everyone is encouraged to sign it and show support: https://campaigns.mssociety.org.uk/page/106592/petition/1
